NETWORK DRIVES EXPLAINED The students have access to three network drives. These are very handy tools for distributing templates to students, having students turn in assignments, and having students share their work with peers. The following is a description of the three network drives and what they should be used for. Contact Matt or Steve to help you set up folders in the network drives (don't set your own folders!!! Steve or Matt need to set certain permissions on the folders so they work properly!) *MS Group-This is probably the most popular network drive. Students can save and open files to and from this drive. This is often times used for students to turn in work, share presentations so kids don't have to log in/log out repeatedly, and for the kids to share files with one another. MS Drop-Students may save to this drive, but they can't open anything from it. This drive should be used when you want students to turn work into you electronically (or they can email it to you). MS Class-This drive is used for you to distribute templates to students. Students can open files located in this drive, but they can't save back to it. This is great to use if you have an Excel template that you'd like students to open up and work on or something similar to this. This drive is quite useful, but it isn't used very often. Another way to do this would be to create a distribution list and email the file to all of your students simultaneously. *A note on these drives-the permissions have been unreliable for quite some time now. We recommend that you simply use the group drive for having students turn files into a class folder.
